This major holiday
auction will feature 400+ top lots, fresh-to-the-market from numerous estates
& collections throughout the region. One major estate to be featured is the
Estate of the late John Shaw, one of NB beloved potters. Throughout his life, John
had moved around from Ontario to Bar Harbour, Maine, where he and his wife
operated a fine antique shop. John had a vast knowledge in pottery and
porcelains; he also was very talented in restoring furniture and A strong passion for collecting unique & rare antiques
his whole life! This collection will feature a stunning selection of Oriental
porcelains like none other seen in the region, as well as an important
collection of furniture dating back to the 1600’s. There will be numerous
pieces being auctioned that were originally in William Maxwell's (one of
Canada’s most noted early 20th century architects) summer home, “Tillietudlem,”
located in St. Andrews, including a fabulous Art Nouveau sideboard designed by
none other than himself. We will also be offering a large collection of
Mid-Century teak & rosewood furnishings from a Hampton NB estate. Several
private collections from Fredericton will also feature quality regional art,
Mary Pratt, Gerard Collins, major works by Toby Graser, Bruno Bobak, Violet
Gillett, as well as 19th century European art. A strong offering of regional
furniture will be up for grabs including Emery & a complete solid mahogany
dining suite from Paul Rantal. There is a beautiful selection of Estate Fresh
gold & costume jewellery, as well as over 7500 grams of sterling silver
flatware and serving dishes. Clocks include an exceptional early 1800’s
mahogany case clock and an Omega Chronometer de marine among others.
Fresh-to-the-market from a Fredericton estate is a large lot of WWl & WWll military bayonets,
sword, pins & more; many collectibles including toys & advertising;
numerous hand knotted Persian wool rugs in various sizes; great selection of
lighting including many 1920’s slag glass table lamps. Primitives include a
stunning Birdseye maple washstand & an early NB detailed crooked knife;
