KEY
AUCTIONS IS PROUD TO HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO SELL 400+ FRESH TO THE MARKET LOTS
FROM THIS GREAT EXAMPLE OF AN EARLY CANADIAN HOMESTEAD TIME CAPSULE!
The
Walls homestead was given to the town of Blackville from the Walls family in
the past and operated many years as a Museum/Historical Society, as well as
Parish Library & Gift Shop.
The
prominent Walls family were some of the early settlers in the region alongside
the Miramichi & Barnabas River in New Brunswick. They were involved in many
different aspects of the community: the family starting with Charles Walls 1870
– 1948 & Ethel Walls (Mountain) 1880 – 1928 and kids all grew into many different
occupations including lumber, teaching, nursing, serving in both World War I
& II. Remnants of the lives of the family can still be found intact and are
now coming to the market for the first time in over 130+ years. Being a Museum
in the region for many years, assisted by government grants, you can imagine that
many things have been well documented and come with a strong lineage, including
one of the larger lots of old photographs we have found in the region – all to
be sold. We have been through the house quickly &
have photographed the visible items but as you scroll through the pictures
below you can see there are still many corners and crevasses unexplored – many treasures
to be found when we return days prior to the sale to set up! The attic lays
completely untouched and just doing a general scan we found a beautiful lamp,
old tobacco & oil tins, retro lamps, old magazines, papers, double sided
porcelain washroom sign & more. This will be a ‘‘CLASSIC OLD FASHIONED
COUNTRY AUCTION” – we will be bringing it out of the house and barn the day of
auction and selling it as found for the most part – lots of digging to be done
so bring a friend & enjoy an truly eventful day & find yourself a
treasure!
