IMPORTANT PORTRAIT PASTEL
done by the superb pastel artist internationally known JERRY PULEO
of the World Famous
1973 Triple Crown Winner Secretariat 1970 – 1989
The colors, lines &
detail is astonishing!
Jerry Puleo 1913 – 1999
Artist Bio:
Internationally known for his
superb pastel artistry, Mr. Jerry Peuleo studied art at Le Cole of Fine Arts,
Paris, Pratt Institute, Sterling School of Design and the Art Student League.
He has appeared on screen, TV, radio and has been praised in newspapers and
magazines throughout the USA for his exquisite artistry.
Puleo works exclusively with
pastel, which has been acclaimed to be the most permanent painting. A portrait
done in pastel will last forever and never need a touch up as oil paintings
regularly do. “Oil painters these days
live to see their paintings deteriorated,” Puleo said noting that the famous
“Mona Lisa has been retouched 10 times”. Puleo developed a technique of
pressing the pastel into specially imported paper he used, which gives the
picture an oil like quality. Finished
products then were the heat sealed under glass in a beautiful frame and is
good for a lifetime.
Puleo holds the unique distinction
of being the only pastel artist with portraits of President and Mrs. John F
Kennedy, President Eisenhower, Govenor Dewy and President Richard M Nixon on
display in memorials located in Washington, D.C., Austin, Texas, Fukton,
Missouri, and Hyden, Kentucky. His portraits of Winston Churchill have been
called the finest in the country.
Well known for portraits of stage,
screen, TV and radio personalities, Mr. Puleo demonstrates a pastel excellence
that resembles the depth and quality of fine oils. His long association with
Portraits and Grand Central Art Gallery add to his outstanding reputation.
